Muong Thanh Group apartment projects face regulatory action in Hanoi
Hanoi authorities are proposing a special mechanism to address widespread land and construction violations involving 12 projects owned by Muong Thanh Group. The proposed measures aim to resolve issues related to urban reconstruction and urban beautification.
The violations include building contrary to approved planning and permits, increasing floor area, adding extra stories, and expanding the number of apartments. Across the 12 projects, the actual number of apartments reached 24,943, significantly exceeding the permitted 6,759 units.
A major case is the HH Linh Dam apartment complex, where developers built up to 41 floors despite a 27-floor limit. This complex houses approximately 40,000 residents, leading to severe overcrowding and strain on local infrastructure, medical services, and schools. Despite being in use since 2015, residents have faced difficulties obtaining ownership certificates.
