Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin bids RM16,500 for Abdul Hadi Awang’s walking stick

Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin, a PAS Kuala Lumpur grassroots leader and former Everest climber, won a charity auction for a walking stick belonging to PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang. The bid reached RM16,500, starting from an initial price of RM2,500.

Muqharabbin clarified that his high bid was not driven by obsession with the individual or the material value of the item, but rather as a memento and a reminder of human mortality. He noted that the cane serves as a symbol that physical strength is temporary and that everyone will eventually age.

The auction took place during a PAS Melaka charity dinner to raise funds for the upcoming Melaka state election. The cane, made of kemuning wood and engraved with the initials ‘TGHH’, will serve as a personal reminder for Muqharabbin to maintain faith and compassion throughout his life.
