Murat Dalkılıç cites rising costs in Turkish music industry

Turkish singer Murat Dalkılıç has expressed frustration regarding the rising costs within the music industry. During an appearance on the program ‘Anne Biz Egelerdeyiz’, Dalkılıç stated that despite performing 30 concerts over the past year, he has had to pay out of his own pocket rather than earning a profit.

He noted that while he has earned a living in the nightlife scene in regions like Çeşme and Bodrum for 26 years, current economic conditions make performing concerts in Turkey feel like an ‘utopian idea’. Dalkılıç explained that he is currently absorbing these costs to ensure his team can cover their basic living expenses, such as rent and bills.

Additionally, Dalkılıç discussed his relationship with actress Özgü Kaya, describing how they met at his shop in Suadiye and noting their contrasting personalities. He also expressed regret over his acting career, stating that although he graduated from the Acting Department at Istanbul Beykent University, he missed opportunities to build a professional career in that field after performing for free in friends' comedy films.
