Adana nurse celebrates beating breast cancer with city convoy

In Adana, Turkey, 24-year-old nurse Havva Nur Atcıoğlu celebrated overcoming breast cancer by organizing a celebratory convoy through the city. After being diagnosed with two tumors in February, Atcıoğlu underwent months of chemotherapy. Recent medical tests confirmed that the cancer cells have been cleared from her body.

Atcıoğlu’s primary support during her treatment was her mother, Songül Tetik, who had also successfully defeated breast cancer 14 years ago. The mother and daughter shared a unique bond through their parallel struggles with the same disease. During the celebration, vehicles displayed banners reading ‘I beat cancer,’ and local citizens joined in by honking their horns to support the young nurse.

In a separate human-interest story in Tunceli, Murat Tayam has dedicated his life to caring for his 68-year-old mother, Selvi Tayam, who has been in a vegetative state for approximately three years. Tayam, a former chef, manages all aspects of her medical and personal care, including respiratory support and preventing bedsores, to support her through her ongoing condition.
