Murat Yarbuğ cycles 4,500 km from Switzerland to Midyat

Murat Yarbuğ, a high-level bank executive living in Switzerland, completed a 4,500-kilometer bicycle journey from Switzerland to his ancestral home in Midyat, Turkey. The journey took 37 days and spanned eight countries, including Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Greece.

Yarbuğ, who moved from Midyat to Switzerland as a child, undertook the trip during an eight-week leave to support a social responsibility project aimed at assisting the education of Syriac children. Upon arriving in Midyat, he was welcomed by his family, relatives, and members of the Syriac community, including leaders from the Syriac Associations Federation and the Midyat Syriac Ancient Churches Foundation.

During the trip, Yarbuğ noted the hospitality he received throughout Turkey, particularly after entering the country through Edirne. He stated that he maintained a high pace of 150 kilometers per day through Europe before slowing down in Turkey to enjoy the mountainous landscapes.
