Murata introduces ultra-small RF coaxial connectors
Murata Manufacturing has announced the commercialization of its SWL series, a line of ultra-small high-frequency coaxial connectors featuring an integrated mechanical switch. Measuring just 1.0 mm x 1.0 mm x 0.55 mm, these connectors are designed to facilitate RF circuit measurements in wireless devices such as smartphones and wearable technology.
The new series offers significant space savings for circuit board layouts. Compared to Murata’s previous SWJ series, the SWL series reduces the mounting area by approximately 40%. Furthermore, when used in conjunction with dedicated probes, the total occupied PCB area—including the necessary keep-out zones for probe access—is reduced by approximately 60%.
Technical specifications for the MM8330-2600 family include a frequency range from DC to 15 GHz and a nominal impedance of 50 Ω. The integrated switch allows for the separation of the RF circuit from the antenna circuit during the probing process, enabling efficient testing and reducing material waste during manufacturing. Mass production for the connectors is scheduled to begin in August 2026, with dedicated manual and automatic probes expected to follow in December 2026.
