Muravera begins new council term with stable budget and healthcare demands

The municipality of Muravera has entered the 2026-2031 council term with a stable financial position. According to a report by Mayor Francesca Mattana, the 2025 accounts closed with an overall surplus of 17.617 million euros, though the immediately available portion is 261,516 euros due to funds earmarked for specific purposes.

While the economic situation does not require urgent intervention, officials noted areas for monitoring, including 13.6 million euros in receivables and 5.7 million euros in payables. The municipality's debt at the end of 2024 stood at 784,767 euros.

Simultaneously, Mayor Mattana is advocating for urgent improvements to the San Marcellino Hospital. Following meetings with health officials, she has called for the establishment of an orthopedic department and the recruitment of anesthesiologists to prevent local operating rooms from remaining underutilized while regional waiting lists grow. Additional requests include resuming mammography screenings and hiring a new pediatrician to replace a recently retired doctor.
