Murcia industrial sector reaches record employment of 102,900 workers

The industrial sector in the Region of Murcia has reached a historic peak in employment, recording 102,900 workers during the third quarter of 2026. According to data from the Labor Force Survey (EPA), the sector added 7,500 jobs compared to the second quarter of 2026, representing a 7.86% increase in three months.

Since the end of 2025, when employment stood at 85,200, the region has seen a total increase of 17,700 workers, a growth of approximately 20.8%. This industrial expansion has outpaced the services sector, which grew by 1.68% during the same period.

Regional Minister Juan María Vázquez described the figures as a “historic milestone” that aligns with the Industrial Plan 2026-2035, which aims for an annual average of 100,000 workers. While the third quarter exceeded this threshold, the average for the first three quarters of 2026 remains at 96,000.

Other economic indicators also show significant growth. Industrial turnover increased by 11.8% between January and August, the highest increase in Spain, while industrial production rose by 10.6% year-on-year in August.
