Murcia opens first five-star hotel in Palacio de Floridablanca
Barceló Hotel Group has opened Palacio San Juan, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, marking the first five-star hotel in the historic center of Murcia, Spain. The establishment is located in the former Palacio de Floridablanca, a property owned by Grupo Fuertes that has undergone an extensive restoration to preserve its neoclassical architecture and historical heritage.
The hotel features 70 rooms and suites, a rooftop terrace with a panoramic pool overlooking the cathedral, and various dining spaces. The renovation, led by architect Jesús Zafra, aimed to adapt the historic residence of the Count of Floridablanca for high-end hospitality while maintaining key elements such as the Arco de San Juan. The project seeks to combine local gastronomy and heritage with luxury tourism to add value to the city's tourism sector.
