Murcia region shaken by magnitude 3.5 earthquake
A seismic event occurred in the Murcia region of Spain on Friday morning, causing alarm among local residents. According to data from the Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN), the earthquake had a magnitude of approximately 3.5 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter located in San Javier at a depth of 5 km.
The tremor was felt across various municipalities, including Murcia, San Javier, Cartagena, Mazarrón, Molina de Segura, and Torrevieja. Residents reported feeling the building shake, hearing objects rattle, or sensing the floor move.
Despite the widespread perception of the movement, the 112 emergency service in the Murcia region received 35 calls and reported no structural damage or injuries. This event follows a period of continued seismic activity in the southeastern part of the peninsula.
