Murcia Region targets drone technology manufacturing and export leadership

At the tenth edition of the Unmanned Vehicle Exhibition (UNVEX) in San Javier, Murcia, regional President Fernando López Miras announced strategic goals to position the Murcia Region as a leader in the manufacturing and export of drone technology and autonomous systems.

To support this industrial ecosystem, the regional government has signed a collaboration agreement with the Spanish Association of Defense, Security, Aeronautics, and Space Technology Companies (TEDAE). Additionally, a 3 million euro aid line has been established to fund research and development in dual-use technologies as part of the Murcia Industrial Plan 2026-2035.

During the event, defense company Indra showcased its advancements in the sector, including attack drones and interceptor systems designed to counter drone threats. Indra is also working on a program to deliver 150 tactical aircraft to the Spanish Armed Forces, focusing on nationalizing key systems such as communications, navigation, and propulsion to build domestic industrial capacity.
