Murciélago anime scheduled for January 2027 premiere

The anime adaptation of the manga series “Murciélago” is scheduled to premiere in Japan in January 2027. The announcement was made during Anime NYC 2026.

Produced by studios Satelight and Staple Entertainment, the series is directed by Asami Matsuo, with Takashi Naoya serving as Chief Director and handling series composition. Character designs are by Sei Tateishi, with music composed by Masanori Akita and Yūichi Tsuchiya.

The story follows Koumori Kuroko, a former mass murderer who has transitioned to working for the Japanese police. Alongside her partner, Hinako Tozakura, she hunts down dangerous criminals. The original manga was created by Kana Yoshimura and has been serialized in Square Enix’s “Young Gangan” magazine since 2013.
