Murder suspect attacked and robbed inside HMP Liverpool

Lawrence Johnson, 26, a suspect accused of murdering Alisha Samuels and the attempted murder of a man, was filmed being assaulted and robbed while held at HMP Liverpool.

Video footage circulating on social media shows Johnson being surrounded by inmates in a cell. In the recording, individuals are heard taunting him with phrases such as ‘Bro, you’re getting chopped up’ and ‘Smash him up,’ before an unidentified prisoner punches Johnson and others command that his belongings be taken.

Johnson was arrested following the October 15 incident in Manchester, where 26-year-old Alisha Samuels was found with multiple stab wounds. Two other men, Carl Hardy, 19, and Tony Evans, 19, have also been charged with the murder and attempted murder.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice stated that ‘violence will not be tolerated in the prison estate’ and confirmed the incident was dealt with swiftly. Officials are also investigating how a mobile phone was used to film and upload the footage from behind bars.
