Murderer of Forbes childcare worker appears in Australian Supreme Court ahead of sentencing

Daniel Billings, 31, appeared via audio‑visual link from the High Risk Management Correctional Centre at the Supreme Court in Sydney on 7 August 2026. Justice Natalie Adams ordered the Crown to file written submissions by 21 August and the defence by 28 August, and scheduled a further mention for 31 August. The court indicated that sentencing, originally set for September, may extend into a second day.

Billings was convicted of murdering 28‑year‑old childcare worker Molly Ticehurst, whose body was found in her Forbes home in the early hours of 22 April 2024. He pleaded guilty to domestic‑violence murder in December 2025 and has been charged with related offences.
