Murdoch University and City of Melville launch youth scholarship

The City of Melville and Murdoch University have partnered to launch a new stream of the Ngala Kwop Biddi Brighter Futures Scholarship. This initiative is specifically designed for young people aged 19 to 25 living in the Melville local government area who are entering university via a non-school leaver pathway.

Successful applicants will receive a $12,000 scholarship, distributed in $2,000 increments per semester over three years, alongside leadership and development mentoring. To qualify, candidates must have demonstrated leadership, advocacy, or meaningful community involvement in one of three priority areas: Sustainability, First Nations initiatives, or Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.

The scholarship is available to domestic undergraduate students at Murdoch University. While the broader scholarship program has previously supported school leavers across Western Australia, this specific stream targets those entering studies at least 12 months after leaving secondary school.
