Muriaé driver sentenced for drunk driving after collision

A driver has been sentenced to six months of detention in a semi-open regime by the 9th Criminal Chamber of the Court of Justice of Minas Gerais (TJMG) following a head-on collision in Muriaé.

The driver, who crossed into oncoming traffic, was convicted of drunk driving. Although a breathalyzer test was not administered, the court ruled that intoxication was proven through witness testimony describing zigzagging driving patterns, medical records noting incoherent speech, and the driver's own admission of consuming beer. The sentence includes ten fines and a two-month suspension of driving privileges.
