Muriel Wines acquires historic Marqués de la Concordia

Muriel Wines has acquired the historic Marqués de la Concordia and its associated brands through a public auction held during a liquidation process. The acquisition follows a period of financial instability for the Marqués de la Concordia Family of Wines, which faced significant debts totaling approximately 60 million euros. The insolvency process was exacerbated by the impact of the pandemic and management issues.

Based in Elciego, Rioja Alavesa, Muriel Wines is a family-owned group that currently manages eight wineries and exports its products to over 50 countries. The group intends to maintain the independent identity of the Marqués de la Concordia brand while leveraging its scale to navigate changing consumer habits and rising industry costs. The acquisition is part of a broader expansion strategy for Muriel Wines, which has seen revenue growth of 9.75% between July 2024 and July 2026.
