Murree school van fire injures 12 people, including 10 children
A school van carrying children caught fire in Murree on Tuesday after veering off the road near the Bara Hotar Link Road. The incident resulted in injuries to 12 individuals, including 10 children aged five to 14 and two adults.
According to medical reports from the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, ten of the injured sustained burns of varying degrees. Three children suffered severe burns, with one sustaining injuries to 42 per cent of the body, while others sustained burns of 38 per cent and 26 per cent. Rescue teams and police arrived at the scene to evacuate the passengers and extinguish the blaze.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought a report on the incident, specifically noting concerns regarding “vehicle overloading and lack of adequate fire safety measures”. Local authorities, including the Murree District Police Officer and Deputy Commissioner, have visited the hospital to monitor the medical care provided to the victims. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
