MUS-E project celebrates 30 years of music education in Portugal

The MUS-E project recently celebrated its 30th anniversary in Portugal during a ceremony in Leiria attended by educators, local authorities, and academic figures. The initiative, founded by the renowned musician Sir Yehudi Menuhin and inspired by the concepts of Zoltán Kodály, aims to integrate music and the arts into essential education to foster an open and intercultural society.

Speakers at the event, including António Sampaio da Nóvoa, emphasized the vital role of teachers and the importance of maintaining their creative authority in modern society. The project has expanded to 13 countries, demonstrating that artistic engagement in schools can improve student motivation and academic performance in areas such as literacy, mathematics, and science, particularly within socially disadvantaged environments.
