Museo Centro Gaiás hosts Ser Noutras art exhibition

The Museo Centro Gaiás in Santiago de Compostela will launch the exhibition ‘Ser—Noutras. Diálogos coa colección do Museo Reina Sofía’ on October 30. The exhibition will remain open until March 28, 2027.

The showcase features approximately 40 works from the Galician art collection of the Museo Reina Sofía, paired with 15 new pieces created specifically for this project by contemporary artists. This intergenerational dialogue includes historical figures such as Maruja Mallo, Julia Minguillón, Arturo Souto, and Virxilio Viéitez, alongside established creators like Berta Cáccamo and Francisco Leiro. New contributions come from artists including Mar Vicente, Lois Patiño, and Jacobo Bugarín.

A central element of the exhibition is an unprecedented spatial installation by visual artist and playwright Marta Pazos. Inspired by the imagery of Maruja Mallo, the installation, titled ‘Maruja’, serves as a ‘visual theater’ that acts as the stage for the entire exhibition. The show is curated by Verónica Santos Farto and Chus Martínez Domínguez.
