Museo del Prado featured in new photography exhibition and mobile app
The Museo Nacional del Prado is featured in new cultural initiatives spanning photography and digital engagement. The exhibition ‘El Prado en el centro: fotografía y memoria’ opens on August 20 at the Museo Bellapart as part of the twelfth edition of the PhotoImagen 2026 festival. The showcase features fifteen photographers—three from the Dominican Republic and twelve from Spain—offering diverse perspectives on the museum’s architecture, its collections, and the visitor experience.
This exhibition is a collaborative effort involving the Fundación Eduardo León Jimenes, Centro León, Museo Nacional del Prado, and the Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado. Curated by Sara Hermann, Orlando Isaac, and Michelle Cruz, the project aims to provide a new lens through which to view the institution.
In a separate development, the ‘Explora Prado’ mobile application has been launched to enhance visitor engagement with the museum's permanent collection. Created by Celia G-Castaño, the independent app utilizes storytelling and interactive challenges to transform the museum visit into an active experience. Available in Spanish and English, the tool allows users to follow thematic routes and discover hidden details within the artworks, moving beyond the traditional audio guide format.
