Museo delle Cappelle Medicee completes restoration of Medici bronze statues

Conservation and maintenance work has been completed at the Museo delle Cappelle Medicee in Florence. The project focused on the monumental bronze statues of Ferdinando I and Cosimo II de’ Medici located in the Cappella dei Principi.

In addition to the statue restoration, a project was implemented to reorganize, secure, and display reliquaries from the Medicean Crypt. These items have been moved to the chapel's choir and presented to the public in a new exhibition configuration.

These efforts are part of a broader 2026 conservation plan involving the museum's marble surfaces, furnishings, and various artworks. The restoration was supported by the Art Bonus program, which facilitates museum conservation through private contributions.
