Museo Gabriela Mistral de Vicuña researches historical press archive
The Museo Gabriela Mistral de Vicuña is conducting research into the ‘Cuadernos de Isolina’, a collection of 2,119 press clippings gathered by Isolina Barraza de Estay between 1912 and 1980. Barraza de Estay was a teacher, cultural manager, and close associate of the poet Gabriela Mistral.
Supported by the National Cultural Heritage Service’s ‘Bajo la Lupa’ fund, the project aims to organize and analyze these nine albums to better understand Mistral’s representation in national and international media. Museum director Dusan Martinovic noted that the collection offers new perspectives on historical and cultural heritage, moving these materials from private reserve to accessible knowledge.
