Museu da Imagem e do Som launches São Paulo peripheral film project
The Museu da Imagem e do Som (MIS) has opened applications for the sixth edition of the ‘MIS em Cena’ program, specifically the ‘São Paulo em Curtas 2026’ project. The initiative aims to decentralize film production in São Paulo by focusing on short films created in peripheral regions outside the city's expanded center.
The project seeks to select 12 short films that showcase the creative diversity of these areas, providing a platform for emerging filmmakers whose work often struggles to reach commercial circuits. Selected works will receive a public screening at the MIS Auditorium in 2026.
The program is supported by the Government of the State of São Paulo and the Ministry of Culture, utilizing resources from the Lei de Incentivo à Cultura, ProAC, and Promac. Applications are free and can be submitted via the institution's official website.
