Museu de Arte da Bahia hosts (in)cômodo popular art exhibition
The Museu de Arte da Bahia is hosting the (in)cômodo exhibition, which runs from August 28 to September 27. The exhibition uses an environment inspired by rural homes to transform living spaces into areas of memory and affection, questioning the historical boundaries between fine art and popular craftsmanship.
Featuring woodcuts, religious imagery, clothing, clay objects, and other elements of daily life, the showcase highlights Northeast Brazilian popular art as a medium for expressing social identities and generational knowledge. The exhibition is the culmination of the ‘Museus em Movimento’ project, a theoretical and practical training initiative focused on museological communication, from curatorial conception to installation and lighting.
In addition to local works, the exhibition includes ten pieces from the Museu de Arte da Bahia collection to foster a dialogue between heritage and popular culture.
