Museum cafes worldwide have become significant cultural attractions, featuring architecture and histories that complement their respective institutions.

Notable historic venues include the V&A Café in London's Victoria and Albert Museum, which opened in 1868 and features rooms such as the Gamble, Morris, and Poynter rooms. In Vienna, the Kunsthistorisches Museum houses a cafe under an octagonal marble dome dating back to the 1890s. Paris features Café 1902 within the Petit Palais, located in a building originally constructed for the 1900 Universal Exposition.
