Museum der Stadt Eschborn displays Hugo Bürkner etching

The Museum der Stadt Eschborn features the etching ‘Zum Empfange’, an artwork by Hugo Bürkner based on a design by Ludwig Richter. The piece depicts a group of children decorated with flowers and wreaths who are welcoming a wedding couple, though the couple themselves are not visible in the frame.

The original sheet was created in connection with the 1856 marriage of Princess Margaretha of Saxony. The etching was published in 1877 by the Gesellschaft für vervielfältigende Kunst, following the production of the printing plate between 1875 and 1877. The work is composed of paper and printing ink, measuring 28 cm in height and 35.5 cm in width.
