Museum exhibitions opening in Arezzo and Cagliari
Two new museum exhibitions are scheduled to open in Italy, focusing on historical visual communication and traditional craftsmanship.
In Arezzo, the Museum of Communication Media (MUMEC) will launch ‘La Magia della Luce’ on October 27, 2026. The exhibition explores the evolution of visual technologies, from early printing to optical views and dioramic photography. A significant portion of the display is dedicated to the history of photography in Venice during the second half of the 19th century, featuring the work of innovators such as Carlo Ponti.
In Cagliari, the Cittadella dei Musei is hosting ‘Aura et Ornamenta,’ an exhibition featuring the Luigi Cocco and Ennio Dalmasso collections. The showcase brings together over one hundred pieces of traditional Sardinian jewelry, including gold, silver, coral, and obsidian works. The collection highlights goldsmithing techniques from the 19th and early 20th centuries, such as filigree, embossing, and granulation, illustrating the social and religious significance of ornaments in Sardinian culture.
