Museum Fünf Kontinente hosts Krishna exhibition in Munich

The Museum Fünf Kontinente in Munich is hosting a special exhibition dedicated to Krishna, one of the most popular and multifaceted deities in Hinduism. The exhibition features over 100 objects from the museum's collection, including historical sculptures, paintings, and ritual items.

The display explores the life story of Krishna and the diverse ways he is worshipped, ranging from daily domestic practices to major festivals such as Janmashtami and Holi. Audiovisual media are used to illustrate these religious practices. Additionally, the exhibition examines Krishna's role in global pop culture, where he often serves as a symbol for meditation, well-being, and spiritual searching.

Developed in cooperation with the Center for Religious Studies (CERES) at Ruhr-University Bochum, the exhibition aims to provide insight into the richness of Indian culture and religion. Curator Anne Hartig will lead guided tours on specific dates in October and November 2026.
