Museum for Applied Arts Gera hosts schoolchildren workshop

During the first week of the school holidays, children from the Erich‑Kästner primary school visited the collection of the Museum for Applied Arts Gera. Guided by experts from the Virtuosos and Schmierfinken association and museum staff member Elena Büchel, they examined objects such as pots, chairs, jewelry, plates and cabinets, sketched them and created their own functional items – plates, stools, bracelets and vases. The finished works will be presented on Thursday, 16 July, from 14:30 to 15:00 at the museum.

On Tuesday, 14 July, a barrier‑free hike for people with disabilities is organized by district manager Uta Krautwald of Bieblach and led by wilderness educator Kristin Stenitschka. The three‑hour walk starts at Ernst‑Abbe‑Straße in Bieblach‑Ost, ends at the local skate‑track and includes a question‑and‑answer session.

The St. Marien Church in Gera‑Untermhaus invites the public to a musical summer service on Wednesday, 15 July, at 17:00. The block‑flute quartet “Flötissimo” from Bad Klosterlausnitz will perform works by Telemann, Haydn and Rosenheck. Admission is free, with a collection taken at the exit.
