Night of the Museums in Villages to feature 165+ rural sites

The fourth edition of ‘Night of the Museums in Villages’ is scheduled for August 29, 2026. The event features over 165 rural museums, heritage sites, and cultural objectives across Romania and includes 13 participating sites from the Republic of Moldova.

Participants include a diverse range of locations such as memorial houses, fortified churches, traditional households, archaeological sites, mills, and artisan workshops. The initiative aims to preserve the memory of the Romanian village and connect communities with their cultural heritage through the development of ‘Living Rural Museum Ecosystems.’

Regional participation is widespread, with specific programs noted in counties such as Brașov, Bihor, Constanța, and Gorj. The event seeks to transform rural heritage from a static resource into a living asset capable of generating local creativity and cultural education.
