Museum of Eastern Bohemia announces exhibition on panel housing systems

The Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové will host a new exhibition titled “MODERNÍ BYT 1960” starting November 20, 2026. The exhibit focuses on the legendary Czechoslovak panel housing phenomenon, specifically the HK construction systems (HK60, HK65, and HK69) developed by the local Stavoprojekt firm.

Visitors will explore the history of these systems, which were used to build residential areas in the Eastern Bohemia region, particularly in Hradec Králové and Pardubice, between 1959 and 1967. The exhibition is organized into three thematic sections: Planning, Construction, and Living, offering insights into the architects and builders behind the panel revolution.
