Museum of Islamic Art hosts Uzbekistan heritage exhibition
The Museum of Islamic Art in Doha is hosting the exhibition ‘Uzbekistan: Heritage in Motion,’ which will run until November 28, 2026. Organized in collaboration with the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation, the showcase connects Uzbekistan’s Islamic history, architecture, and craftsmanship with its contemporary cultural identity.
The exhibition is structured into four thematic chapters. ‘Beyond the River’ explores Central Asian cultural conditions prior to the 8th-century Islamic conquest. ‘Building Earth and Empire’ focuses on the built environment and the use of materials such as brick. ‘Architects of Thought and Image’ presents historical scholars and thinkers through manuscripts and interactive elements. Finally, ‘Legacies of Clay and Thread’ traces the evolution of ceramics, clothing, jewelry, and textiles, including silk production, into the present day.
Featured artifacts include glazed ceramics from the Timurid era, a leaf from the Baysunghur Quran, calligraphic vessels, and various textiles and jewelry.
