Museum of Lika opens Titanic and Carpathia exhibition
The Museum of Lika in Gospić has opened a new exhibition titled ‘RMS Titanic and RMS Carpathia’. The display features historical documents, photographs, models, and artifacts related to the famous maritime tragedy and the subsequent rescue efforts by the Carpathia.
The exhibition highlights specific connections to the Lika region, noting that 16 passengers on the Titanic originated from the area, including Nikola Lulić, the sole survivor from Lika. One of the twelve surviving original Titanic life jackets is held in the Maritime and Historical Museum of the Croatian Littoral in Rijeka, which is linked to Josip Car, a crew member of the Carpathia who participated in the rescue.
