Museum of Memory hosts free theater cycle on Spanish exile

The Museum of Memory and Human Rights in Chile is hosting the ‘Ciclo de Teatro de Memorias Compartidas’, a free theater cycle exploring the experiences of Spanish exile following the Spanish Civil War. The event runs from August 27 to September 5.

The program features three distinct productions. Mákina Dos will present ‘Luna 1939’, which depicts eight Spanish refugees seeking asylum at the Chilean Embassy in Madrid in 1939 and creating a clandestine cultural magazine. La Llave Maestra will perform ‘Los niños del Winnipeg’, a tribute to the 1,500 survivors who arrived in Chile aboard the ship Winnipeg, managed by Pablo Neruda. The cycle concludes with ‘El niño de arena’ by TheaTeatro + PLATAFORMA, a story about a baby rescued from the Argelès-sur-Mer concentration camp in France.

Tickets for all performances are free and will be available at the Museum of Memory and Human Rights box office one hour before each show on a first-come, first-served basis.
