Museum of Polish History opens music-themed PRL exhibition

The Museum of Polish History in Warsaw has opened a new stationary exhibition titled ‘What is this queue standing for? The PRL in a musical mirror’. The exhibition, located at the Warsaw Citadel, explores the history of the Polish People's Republic (PRL) through the lens of entertainment music produced between 1944 and 1989.

Curators examine various musical eras and movements, including the bigbit era, punk scenes in Jarocin, and the emergence of stars at the Opole Festival. The display features icons such as Mieczysław Fogg, Czesław Niemen, and Robert Brylewski, illustrating how artists used music to respond to or contest the political reality of the time. The exhibition is scheduled to remain open until December 6, 2026.
