Museum of the Future in Dubai to close September 1 for overhaul
Dubai’s Museum of the Future will temporarily close its current galleries on September 1 to begin a major overhaul. The closure marks the start of a transition toward a new generation of immersive and interactive experiences.
The museum is redesigning its exhibitions to align with emerging technologies and scientific breakthroughs. These new developments are being timed to coincide with the attraction’s fifth anniversary in the first quarter of 2027. The upcoming phase will feature deeper, highly interactive explorations of the scientific and technological shifts expected to reshape society and economies in the coming decades.
In preparation for this transition, the museum held a global call for ideas, receiving over 1,000 suggestions from the public to help shape the future programming. Mohammad Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Museum of the Future, noted that the institution is designed to explore what tomorrow could become through knowledge and innovation rather than simply documenting the past.
