Museum of the Portuguese Language celebrates 20 years

The Museum of the Portuguese Language is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a series of cultural activities, including the temporary exhibition ‘Luz da Língua’ and the launch of a digital glossary titled ‘Palavra-Chave’. The exhibition, curated by Isa Grinspum Ferraz, features photography, reports, and videos accompanied by poetry from figures such as Maria Bethânia and Tom Zé. It will remain on display until November 8.

In collaboration with the Cité internationale de la langue française, the museum has also extended the application deadline for an international residency program in France. The initiative seeks two individuals—one from Brazil and one from French Guiana—to conduct research or artistic creation focused on the history and valorization of indigenous languages. Selected participants will travel to Villers-Cotterêts in March 2027, receiving a stipend for transport and food, with accommodation provided. Applications are open until September 30.
