Museums display historical kitchen tools and luge equipment

The Heimathaus Borghorst museum features historical wrought-iron fireplace hooks, also known as kettle hooks or notched rods. These tools allowed users to adjust the height of heavy cooking vessels, such as brass water kettles, over an open fire to regulate heat. These implements were central to Westphalian hearths before the introduction of modern closed stoves.

In Bad Sachsa, the Wintersport- und Heimatmuseum displays a 20kg lead weight vest used in luge racing. Designed to provide lighter athletes with a competitive advantage by compensating for the speed benefits of heavier competitors, the vest was handmade by a local luger using melted lead weights from car tires. The vest was used in competitions between the late 1970s and early 2000s.
