Czech Republic mushroom growth improves following increased rainfall

Following an exceptionally dry summer, mushroom growth conditions in the Czech Republic have significantly improved due to increased rainfall and optimal temperatures between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) and various mycological maps indicate a high probability of growth across much of the country, particularly in mountainous regions.

The best prospects for foragers are located in the northern and western mountains, including the Krkonoše, Jizerské, and Krušné Mountains. In the Krušné Mountains, specifically around Cínovce, reports indicate abundant harvests of various species. While mycorrhizal mushrooms, such as boletes, require more time to develop following rain, saprotrophic mushrooms like field mushrooms and agarics tend to react more quickly to precipitation.

In contrast, regions such as southern Moravia and the Vysočina highlands show lower probabilities for mushroom growth. While recent rainfall was above average—doubling the norm in Moravia—meteorologists note that the immediate weekend may see rising temperatures and less rain before further precipitation arrives early next week.
