Music City Tenjin festival to return to Fukuoka in September 2026

The large-scale music event ‘Music City Tenjin’ (MCT) is scheduled to take place on September 26 and 27, 2026, in the Tenjin district of Fukuoka. Approaching its 22nd year, the festival is characterized by its free admission across all stages, aiming to revitalize the local area through music.

As part of the festivities, the Kirameki-dori street will become a pedestrian-only zone for two days to host the ‘Iwataya Honten Tenjin 90th Anniversary Stage.’ This special event celebrates the 90th anniversary of the department store and will feature a diverse lineup of artists, including Yuma Abe, Satoko Shibata, and various local and international performers.

The event is organized by a committee including the Nishitetsu Group, We Love Tenjin Council, and several media organizations. The initiative seeks to enhance the musical environment of Fukuoka and drive economic activity in the region's commercial hub.
