Music education initiatives launched in Brazil and Portugal
Various cultural and educational institutions are launching initiatives focused on music and its role in childhood development.
In Iguatu, Brazil, FAJI has introduced the ‘Territórios Sonoros da Infância’ project. This free musicalization program will serve 30 children through sessions involving singing, rhythm, listening, and recorder instruction. The project, supported by the National Aldir Blanc Policy for Cultural Promotion, will take place at two CRAS locations starting September 11, 2026.
In Portugal, NOVA FCSH is organizing a cycle of open classes titled ‘Música na Infância: Movimento, Voz e Comunicação’. Scheduled for October 17 and November 21, the program offers an interdisciplinary approach to how music, voice, and movement impact learning and communication. The sessions are designed for educators and professionals, providing practical experiences in improvisation and rhythmic singing. Participation is free, with registration available through the Santander Open Academy.
