Music festivals Bananada and Sonica Ekrano hold recent and upcoming editions

The Bananada Festival has concluded its recent edition in Goiânia, marking its return to in-person programming after a seven-year hiatus. The event featured 102 attractions across 12 different territories in the city, reinforcing the role of the capital in the circulation of independent Brazilian music. Notable performers included Arnaldo Antunes, who noted the festival's long-standing tradition.

Separately, the 5th edition of the Sonica Ekrano Music Documentary Festival is scheduled to take place in Barreiro from September 11 to 19. The festival will showcase 22 films, including several national premieres, exploring the social, political, and cultural contexts of music. The program features subjects ranging from Hermeto Pascoal and Erik Satie to various global music scenes including Papua New Guinea, Ghana, and India. For the first time, the Teatro Municipal do Barreiro will serve as the festival's primary venue.
