Belo Horizonte storms disrupt Virada Cultural and Feira Hippie

Heavy rainfall in Belo Horizonte caused significant disruption to the 11th Virada Cultural festival and the traditional Feira Hippie. The storm, which included lightning and wind gusts, forced the reorganization of the festival's programming, leading to the cancellation or rescheduling of several attractions. Some stages were unable to continue shows due to water-damaged electrical and sound equipment.

In the city's Hipercentro and Western regions, rainfall levels significantly exceeded monthly averages, with some areas receiving over five times the expected climatological volume in just a few hours. At the Feira Hippie, the deluge destroyed market stalls and left vendors stranded by flash floods. The Civil Defense issued alerts during the storm as the weather impacted various sectors of the capital.
