Music industry experts address AI and copyright sustainability

Music industry experts and copyright representatives are convening to address the evolving challenges of intellectual property in the digital age. In Paraguay, a meeting involving officials from Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru, alongside executives from Sony Music and CAPIF, will focus on the impact of artificial intelligence. Discussions will center on the legal disputes regarding the unauthorized use of protected works to train AI algorithms, the ownership of rights, and ensuring equitable remuneration for artists as software-generated content increases.

In Bogotá, the Bogotá Music Market (BOmm) 2026 will feature a panel organized by SAYCO in collaboration with the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC). This session aims to explore how artists can build sustainable careers by understanding the economic value of their songs. The panel will address copyright protection, collective management through licensing and distribution, and how musical works can generate long-term value across various markets and formats.
