Music initiatives launched in Leeds and Bradford

The Leeds Song Festival has announced its 2027 programme, titled ‘The Song Within’, scheduled to run from 10 to 17 April. Directed by Joseph Middleton, the festival aims to expand the traditional song recital format by exploring themes of memory, identity, and place. The lineup includes prominent artists such as Sir Simon Keenlyside, Fatma Said, and Carolyn Sampson, with repertoire ranging from Dowland to Egyptian song and new world premieres.

In Bradford, stakeholders are launching the Bradford District Music Strategy to support the region’s musical heritage and creative talent. Supported by the BPI and Bradford Live, the strategy aims to strengthen the local music ecosystem and prepare for the opening of the BRIT North college. The initiative is being championed by regional and national leaders, including West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin and BPI CEO Dr. Jo Twist OBE.
