Music merchandise expands beyond T-shirts to lifestyle goods
Music merchandise is evolving beyond traditional band T-shirts to include a wider variety of lifestyle products. As streaming royalties remain low and touring costs rise, artists are increasingly turning to physical goods like tote bags, bucket hats, and backpacks to create reliable income streams.
Backpacks, in particular, offer high-value utility for fans and serve as mobile advertisements for artists. Unlike shirts, which may be covered by jackets, a branded backpack provides constant visibility in public spaces, offering organic promotion for emerging musicians.
In the current market, graphic apparel continues to be a significant driver of consumer interest. Notable recent releases include limited-edition long-sleeve tees for JID’s album ‘God Does Like Ugly’ in collaboration with Fear of God, Alpinestars motocross-inspired designs, and tribute pieces for R&B artist Aaliyah.
