Music platforms implement varying policies to manage AI-generated content
Music streaming and distribution platforms are implementing varying policies to manage the rapid increase of AI-generated content. Beatport has announced a ban on music that is entirely or mostly created by artificial intelligence. To enforce this, the DJ marketplace is utilizing a detection tool from partner Beatdapp to filter tracks during the upload process. While fully AI-generated tracks are blocked, human-led productions that incorporate AI tools are permitted but will be flagged.
Other major services are seeing significant volumes of AI content. Deezer reported that daily AI uploads reached nearly 50 percent at peak levels in June 2026, while Apple Music indicated that more than one-third of its monthly uploads were 100 percent AI-generated. Qobuz also noted that 34 percent of its daily new uploads are AI-generated.
Industry responses vary widely: Bandcamp has implemented an outright ban, whereas Spotify has explored approaches like ‘AI Personas’. The industry faces ongoing challenges regarding detection accuracy, the risk of false positives, and the difficulty of distinguishing between AI used as a creative tool versus AI used to replace human creators entirely.
