Musical education initiatives expand in Ankara and Mardin

Various regional musical initiatives are being established in Turkey to preserve traditional music and engage youth. In Ankara, Sincan Municipality, in collaboration with Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University Turkish Music State Conservatory, is forming a new Turkish Music Children's Choir. Eighty-one students aged 10 to 14 recently underwent talent examinations to select 50 members for a one-year training program.

In Mardin's Midyat district, a Reyhani Choir consisting of 20 students is preparing for its debut concert. Led by music teacher Çiğdem Bozdemir at Midyat Borsa İstanbul Anatolian High School, the group practices five days a week. The students are learning various instruments, including the guitar, saz, darbuka, and piano, and aim to perform both local Reyhani melodies and songs from different regions of Turkey.
