Musical ‘Minno’ based on Jun Ikeido novel opens at Theater Crea
The musical adaptation of Jun Ikeido’s bestselling novel, ‘Minno’, is set to open at Theater Crea in Tokyo on September 6. The production is the first musical adaptation of Ikeido’s work and follows a comedic premise where the body and soul of a Prime Minister and his college-student son are suddenly swapped, using satire to comment on society and politics.
During a press conference and public dress rehearsal held on September 5, cast members including Arisawa Shotaro, Bessho Tetsuya, and director Nagai Makoto shared their enthusiasm. Arisawa, playing the son Sho, expressed a desire to ‘make Japan energetic’ through the performance. Bessho, playing the Prime Minister Muto Taizan, noted that the play aims to make politics feel more accessible to the public through laughter.
The production will tour Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka starting in September 2026.
